Round 17 Report

Football
Seniors
Monbulk’s finals chances rested with a win needed over Gembrook and other results falling their way. In an usually calm day on the Gembrook hill, the winless Brookers took it right up to the Hawks and led for most of the first half, at times by up to three goals and looking at a boil-over. Monbulk kicked a goal just on the half time siren which brought the margin back to three points at the main break.

The Hawks reset during during their rest and played more disciplined football in the third term, with pressure and controlled possession. They quickly slammed on seven goals in short time and had a virtually unassailable lead by three quarter time. Another five goals to one in the last quarter sealed their victory and let them retain the Ramage Family Trophy. Monbulk must now beat Healesville in the final round and hope that Officer (fourth) beats Woori Yallock (fifth) which will allow them to sneak into finals.
