Round 7 Report
Football
Seniors
On a cool, calm and overcast day Monbulk ventured to Wandin to take on the undefeated ladder leaders. The Bulldogs had three goals on the board in as many minutes to break the game open early and their slick ball movement proved to be a decisive factor.
In a fiercely contested match, Wandin were just able to find the scoreboard more often than the Hawks as they gradually extended the margin at each break.

The Reserves encounter was a scrappy affair that never rose to any great heights. Monbulk kept pace with Wandin for most of the afternoon but were always kept at arms length and unable to hit the lead.

With the combined 18s competition, Monbulk again faced a Division 1 club. This match was played at Seville and proved to be very even for the first half. Monbulk held a six point lead at the first change and it was the Blues with a lead of the same margin at the long break. After half time it was all Seville who recorded a ten goal win.

On a cool Friday night the Monbulk veterans notched the only football win of the weekend for the Hawks. An early Monbulk goal was quickly cancelled by a Wandin reply but after that it was a dominant performance by the Hawks. Monbulk remain undefeated and sit second on the ladder behind Belgrave on percentage. They face the reigning premiers Gembrook-Cockatoo this week in a crucial clash.

Netball
A Grade
Monbulk have faced the reigning grand finalists in consecutive weeks and again came up short on the day. Short on defenders with missing Georgia Himmelreich through an ongoing injury and Paige Whitworth faced a season ending ACL injury last week. However this allows Chloe Baker to make her A Grade debut and Elly Stewart also returned for the first time since 2024, after both had played B Grade first.

Under 17s
Both teams produced some great results, in particular the Gold team, who defeated the fifth placed Wandin on their own court. After twice conceding the lead in the first half, the Gold girls were not headed again after regaining control and had a strong 10 goal win, being inspired by Isabelle Cross who injured herself in a desperate play. The Maroon team travelled to Olinda and controlled their match from the outset.
