Practice Match vs Kilcunda
Football
Under 19’s Match Summary
Excellent work by the under 19s.
Scores 14 Kilcunda -115 Monbulk, great warm up for the season!
Reserves/Seniors Match Summary
Saturday we travelled down to Kilcunda bass for our second practice match. I couldn’t have been happier with the effort of all that played in the hot conditions. We were able to try some things that we have been training all summer and also get some experience into 3 under 19s players who were also very good for us. Young macca finished with 3 goals and had a heap of the footy. Passo and hendo were also great contributors. In the end we went down by a goal but it was not a reflection of how well we played.
Best players: Werts, Strachan, Macca Bateson, Beecroft
I’m looking forward to getting somewhere near full strength for our final practice match against gembrook at home on Thursday 31st march. Cheers Hottie. (GO HAWKS)
Netball
Thank you to the Kilcunda Bass Football Netball Club for inviting us to have match play on Saturday 19th March. It was exciting to finally see our Monbulk players out on court and play netball again. The hard work and commitment these players have put in training over the last few months is starting to come together. The movement around the court has improved immensely, the intensity of the defenders was outstanding and our goalers were on point.
Game 1 Match Summary
Monbulk put on an outstanding performance winning the game 49 to 12. There was some great teamwork throughout the game in attack with Iris, Liv, Nicole, Tara, Lauren, Chloe and Brooke combining really well at different stages of the game. Great defensive one on one pressure coming from Tash, Fleur and Hayley keeping Kilcunda to 12 goals for the match. Great performance from young Hayley who combined really well with Fleur and Tash in the defensive circle. Iris and Liv continued to dominate at the other end. Unfortunately during the second quarter we suffered a massive loss with Tara going down with an ankle injury and had to be carried off the court. Tara was replaced by Lauren who was able to give the team lots of drive in the attack end and worked well with our attacking unit. At half time we brought on fresh legs with Chloe H going on in centre and in the third Quarter Nicole came on in GA. It was a great team effort.
Team: Iris Liv Tara Brooke Tash Fleur Hayley Chloe H Lauren Nicole
Game 2 Match Summary
Monbulk took control from the start showcasing the talent we have in this team with great team communication and excellent play winning the game 50 to 9. The players displayed some exciting netball in the attack end with Nicole and Chloe H giving the team strong drives, options, connections and controlling the top of the circle with Soph, Tarnee and Steph dominating in the goaling department. The defenders were relentless for the whole game with their one on one pressure, Fleur and Paige combined really well in the defensive circle keeping the goalers to 9 goals for the game and Ti was outstanding in WD. Towards the end of the second quarter Steph was introduced into the game in GS, it was so exciting to see her back on court and not missing a beat!
